Four Arrested Over Wave of Burglaries in Medway and Gravesend
Four suspects have been slapped with charges after a burglary spree hit 23 homes across Medway and Gravesend. The break-ins, stretching from September 15 to December 31, 2023, saw thieves make off with cash, jewellery, and designer gear.
Kent Crime Squad Cracks Case
Kent Crime Squad detectives led a relentless hunt, making key arrests in early January 2024. Three suspects – Alan Byrne, Gary Byrne, and Craig McCabe – were caught on January 3 and 4. A fourth, Kieran McCabe, was nabbed a week later on January 11.
The Accused: Names and Charges
- Alan Byrne, 56, from Middle Park Avenue, Eltham, Greater London
- Gary Byrne, 51, from Booth Close, Thamesmead
- Craig McCabe, 32, from Wodehouse Road, Dartford
- Kieran McCabe, 22, from Booth Close, Thamesmead
Alan Byrne, Gary Byrne, and Craig McCabe have all been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary. They appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on January 5. Alan and Gary Byrne remain remanded, while Craig McCabe was released on conditional bail ahead of a Woolwich Crown Court hearing on February 2.
Kieran McCabe also faces conspiracy charges and is remanded, set to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on January 12.
