Teen Charged with Murder After Taylor Swift Dance Class Horror
A 17-year-old boy from Banks, Lancashire, has been charged with murder following a chilling stabbing spree at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport. Three young girls – six-year-old Bebe King, seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, and nine-year-old Alice Dasilva Aguiar – were fatally stabbed in the brutal attack.
The suspect, whose identity is protected due to his age, also faces ten counts of attempted murder and possession of a bladed weapon. He remains in custody and is due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on August 1, 2024.
Chaos at Community Centre During Summer Club
The horrifying attack struck on Monday during a summer holiday Taylor Swift Yoga and Dance Workshop at The Hart Space community centre. The class was for children aged seven to eleven. Alongside the three tragic deaths, eight other children were wounded. Five youngsters and two adults who tried to intervene are still in critical condition.
Chief Constable Serena Kennedy said: “These charges mark a significant step, but the investigation is very much ongoing. We are working closely with Lancashire Police and Counter Terrorism Policing North West to get a full picture.”
Unrest Erupts as Calls for Calm Grow
News of the attack sparked violent protests in Southport, Hartlepool, London, and Manchester. Rioters set a police van on fire in Southport and clashed with officers amid false rumours about the suspect’s identity.
Southport MP Patrick Hurley demanded the troublemakers face “the full force of the law.” Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer condemned the rioters for hijacking the victims’ tragedy and vowed to hold them accountable.
Elsie’s mother, Jenni Stancombe, pleaded on Facebook: “Please, please stop the violence in Southport tonight. The police have been nothing but heroic these last 24 hours and we don’t need this.”
