Pervert Jailed for Sex Attack on Child in Swale
Nicholas Kerswell, 34, from Eastchurch on the Isle of Sheppey, has been locked up for nearly four years after sexually assaulting a young girl in Swale on 26 July 2025.
The vile attack was quickly reported to police by a family member. Officers acted fast, tracking Kerswell down and arresting him on charges of sexual assault against a child under 13.
Thief Pleads Guilty to Burglary as Well
At Medway Magistrates’ Court on 28 July, Kerswell owned up to the sexual assault. He also admitted to a separate burglary on Bridgewater Road, Sheerness, committed back in March 2023.
Jail Time and Tough Restrictions
On 30 September, Maidstone Crown Court sentenced Kerswell to three years for the sexual assault plus 10 months for burglary.
He’ll also be slapped with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order when freed, banning him from any contact with potential victims.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage
“Kerswell’s appalling actions have had a serious impact on his victim and we’re pleased to see he will serve serious time in prison,” said Detective Constable James Horne.
“I’d like to commend the victim for her bravery in coming forward. Her account has helped us stop him from offending for the foreseeable future.”
