London Man Busted Before Flying to Child Abuse Horror Trip
A 68-year-old from Mitcham, London, was snared before he could jet off to abuse children abroad. Edward Gratwick was caught at Stansted Airport trying to board a flight to Bucharest, Romania, following a sting by the National Crime Agency (NCA).
Online Chats Expose Sick Plans
The NCA uncovered brutal plans when they intercepted Gratwick texting another paedophile. The pair plotted to abuse a nine-year-old girl and even discussed dosing her with GHB – a drug intended to wipe her memory.
“I’ll bring enough GHB so you can have some fun when I’m not there,” Gratwick messaged, alongside snaps of banned chemicals stashed in his fridge.
After his arrest on 7 March 2025, officers raided his home and seized devices. Thousands of encrypted messages revealed horrifying sexual content and coordination with offenders worldwide.
‘Pimping’ Kids and Plotting Abuse in Sick Detail
Gratwick boasted he was a “pimp,” demanding a 25% cut to organise abuse of girls aged 6 to 10. He meticulously planned every ghastly detail — including choosing the victims’ outfits.
In chilling chats, he asked, “Do you have a time operated plug? One you can set to turn a light on and off?” Officers found such a device plus a child’s sleeveless top in his travel bag.
Shocking Evidence Unearthed
- Over 1,300 indecent images recovered from Gratwick’s devices
- 632 of these ranked category A – the worst kind
- Messages showed arrangements for multiple child sex attacks
- Pre-booked Airbnb in Bucharest tied to planned abuse
Charged with 11 offences on 9 March and 38 in total including arranging child rape and sharing indecent images, Gratwick was found guilty on 10 October. He now awaits sentencing at Guildford Crown Court on 28 November.
This grim case throws a spotlight on the dark underworld of online child abuse and the relentless fight to shut it down.
