Man Who Sexually Assaulted Teen in Ipswich Dodges Immediate Jail

Disturbing Assault in Ipswich Street

A 24-year-old man sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl in Ipswich but avoided immediate prison. Ibrahim Batkitar admitted his crime at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Friday. On June 6, Batkitar waited for the street to clear before approaching the girl. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and began groping her. When she tried to run away, he chased and tried to touch her again, before finally fleeing.

“The victim was left so distressed by the incident that she broke down in tears,” the court heard.

Prior Ban and Suspended Sentence

Batkitar, from Bibby’s Way, Framlingham, was already banned from Ipswich town centre under an 18-month community protection notice, active until April 2027. Despite this, he committed the assault. The court sentenced him to eight months in prison but suspended the term for 18 months. He will avoid jail unless he reoffends.
