Accrington Man Pleads Guilty to Mosque Stabbing
Ishaq Hussain, 33, has admitted stabbing a man outside a mosque earlier this year. The accused appeared at Preston Crown Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and carrying a knife in public.
Victim Left Seriously Injured Outside Mosque
The shocking attack took place in July outside the Raza Jamia Masjid on Lower Antley Street. Victim Umer Farooq, a man in his 40s, was found with serious injuries and rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.
Family Feud Behind Violent Stabbing
Prosecutor Kate Moore revealed the stabbing was linked to a wider family feud causing disorder in the area. Tensions between families reportedly sparked the violent incident outside the mosque.
Co-Defendant Denies Attempted Murder Charges
Another man, 22-year-old Aiwaz Hussain from Bamber Bridge, was also charged after the attack. He faces two counts of wounding with intent, attempted murder, and possession of a bladed article. While he admitted one wounding charge on October 6, he denies the rest. He remains in custody and is due to stand trial on January 19.
Ishaq Hussain, currently with no fixed address, remains in custody. He will be sentenced alongside co-defendants once all court proceedings conclude.
