Yantar Targets UK Undersea Security

Speaking at Downing Street, Healey confirmed the Yantar – a vessel specialising in undersea espionage – has entered UK waters for the second time this year. He slammed the laser attacks as “deeply dangerous” and vowed the UK is treating the incident “very seriously”.

“The Yantar is part of a Russian fleet designed to put our undersea infrastructure and that of our allies at risk,” Healey said. “We track it, we deter it, and we are ready to act if necessary.”

Royal Navy Tightens Rules as Tensions Rise

The Defence Secretary announced updated Royal Navy rules of engagement to allow closer surveillance of the vessel. Military options are ready should the Yantar escalate its activities or change course.
