Murder Probe Underway After Woman Fatally Attacked in Almondbury
Tragedy struck Almondbury in the early hours of Friday, 19 December, as Lisa Smith, 33, suffered a brutal assault that left her with fatal head injuries. Police have launched a murder investigation following the horrific attack.
Horrific Assault on Fernside Avenue
Officers rushed to Fernside Avenue at 12.26am to find Lisa gravely injured. Despite being taken to hospital, she sadly died on Sunday evening. A forensic post mortem will reveal the exact cause of death.
Gareth Brook, 34, from Fernside Avenue, was charged with wounding with intent. He appeared at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 20 December, and was remanded in custody. His next hearing is scheduled at Leeds Crown Court on 16 January, which will depend heavily on post-mortem findings.
