Man Run Over Twice in Brutal Wolverhampton Street Attack
Shocking Incident on Pope Road
A man has been found guilty of attempted murder after deliberately running over a victim twice with his car in Wolverhampton. The 42-year-old victim suffered serious injuries to his legs, ribs, and shoulder during the terrifying street assault on July 2 in The Scotlands area.
West Midlands Police revealed that Melvin Winters, 46, used a black Vauxhall Insignia to hit the man once, then circled back to strike him again while he was down. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before rushing him to hospital, where he remains in recovery.
Partner Caught Robbing Victim During Attack
The horror didn’t end there. Winters’ girlfriend, 32-year-old Josie James, jumped from the car and snatched a gold chain off the injured man before the pair sped off. The victim was left traumatised and seriously hurt on the street.
The abandoned Vauxhall was found nearby in Masefield Mews and seized for forensic investigation. Police arrested Winters and James from separate addresses on July 5.
Guilty Verdicts at Wolverhampton Crown Court
Both denied the charges – Winters claimed he wasn’t guilty of attempted murder, and both denied robbery. But on December 18, a jury found them guilty on all counts. This violent duo, who live in Bushbury, will be sentenced on February 10.
