London Man Jailed for Brutal Strangulation Attack in Colchester

A Londoner has been slammed with a hefty prison term after a savage assault in Colchester. Daniel Baptiste, 46, gruesomely grabbed a woman in her 40s by the neck and hoisted her off the ground, choking her until she struggled to breathe. The terrified victim wasted no time, dialing police moments after the April 2025 attack.

Police Spring Into Action After Shocking Assault

Teams from the Public Protection and Domestic Abuse units acted fast. For weeks, officers supported the victim, helping her find the courage to deliver a full statement. Their investigation exposed a chilling pattern of abuse by Baptiste. Authorities tracked him down as he returned to the UK, before arresting and charging him.

Harsh Sentence and Long-Term Restraining Order Issued

At Ipswich Crown Court on December 17, Baptiste pleaded guilty to non-fatal strangulation and assault relating to a July 2024 incident. He was handed a 25-month sentence. Coupled with an unrelated suspended sentence of 18 months, Baptiste faces a total of 43 months behind bars. Plus, he’s been hit with a seven-year restraining order to keep him away from his victim for good.
