Burglaries Rock Canterbury in Startling Spree

Canterbury kicked off January with a bang – and not the good kind. On Friday 2 January, burglars targeted a Tudor Road house, stealing jewellery and other valuables.

Just 48 hours later, a thief was caught red-handed trying to escape a St. Mary’s Street home after the owner confronted him.

The spree continued on Monday 5 January with another break-in on 1 Road, where robbers made off with bank cards and a mobile phone in a lightning-fast raid.

Kent Police Strike Fast to Nab Suspects

Kent Police swung into action immediately. By Tuesday 6 January, officers arrested two men in Wincheap. A thorough search uncovered a stash of suspected stolen goods.

Burglar Charged, Accomplice on Bail

On Wednesday 7 January, 34-year-old James Henson from Martyrs’ Field Road was charged with burglary and fraud. After a brief appearance at Margate magistrates, he was remanded in custody. He’s slated for a hearing at Canterbury Crown Court on 9 February.

A second suspect, aged 35 and from Chalfont Road, Wembley, was granted conditional bail as investigations continue.
