Chaos erupted in Woking town centre in the early hours of Christmas Day, resulting in four arrests after a massive brawl. Surrey Police intervened after reports of a major public order incident drew crowds of up to 100 people.

Officers responded to Chertsey Road at around 3am following calls about the disorder. The fight involved aggressive behaviour, with several taxi drivers caught up and intimidated during the disturbance.

To control the situation, police deployed multiple units including dog teams and the NPAS helicopter. Despite coins being thrown at officers, the situation was brought under control by 4am, restoring calm to the area.

Four individuals remain in custody, facing charges related to public order offences. Surrey Police are urgently seeking witnesses, particularly those who recorded the incident on their phones, to come forward. Officers are also reviewing CCTV footage to help identify those involved.

Detective Superintendent Clinton Blackburn said: “Christmas Eve is usually a time for fun and celebrations but things took a nasty turn with this street brawl. Our teams acted swiftly under tough conditions to restore order.”

He added, “We will not tolerate this behaviour. We’re determined to identify all involved and bring them to justice. Anyone who witnessed the incident must come forward.”

Members of the public with information or video footage are asked to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference P16294876. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Authorities urge everyone not to let such brawls spoil the festive spirit and to help bring peace back to the streets of Woking.
