Paul Fisher, 61, of St Peters Path, Oadby, has been sentenced to five years and two months in prison following a series of bomb hoax calls targeting some of England’s busiest transport hubs and public locations.

Between April and May 2025, Fisher repeatedly contacted police forces across the UK, falsely claiming that explosives had been planted at high-profile sites. These calls caused significant disruption and diverted emergency resources.

On 5 May 2025 alone, Fisher made three calls to the Metropolitan Police, naming Heathrow Airport, St Pancras railway station, and Scotland Yard as targets for bombs. In addition, he contacted West Midlands Police to report a bomb at Birmingham Airport and warned Leicestershire Police about a device in a London hotel.

Fisher’s hoax calls were not limited to major cities. He also made multiple calls to regional police forces, including two to Lincolnshire Police threatening to blow up pubs in Boston and Lincoln, and another to Humberside Police claiming a bomb was placed at a Hull police station.

Fisher pleaded guilty at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on 7 May 2025 to eight counts of bomb hoax for communicating false information, three counts of causing wasteful employment of police resources, and one count of threatening to destroy or damage property.

On Monday 11 August 2025, Leicester Crown Court handed down a sentence of five years and two months’ imprisonment.

Police authorities condemned Fisher’s actions, emphasizing that bomb hoaxes waste valuable police time and emergency services, cause widespread panic, and divert attention from genuine threats.
