Officers discovered the firearm, a handgun, and approximately 50 rounds of ammunition as part of an intelligence-led warrant in the Challney area. Investigators also discovered a large amount of heroin.
A man in his fifties was arrested on suspicion of having a firearm and possessing a class A drug, and he was taken into custody for questioning.
This is the latest result in our work to tackle organised crime in Bedfordshire, and I am delighted that another weapon has been safely removed from the streets,” said Detective Superintendent Nick Skipworth of Bedfordshire Police’s intelligence capability.
Our enforcement action was part of a pre-planned warrant and shows that dangerous weapons will not be tolerated. We will continue to pursue those found in possession of them.” Fortunately, gun crime is uncommon in our county; however, anyone who believes they know someone in possession of a weapon should contact us immediately.”
