The Coastguard has initiated a major search and rescue operation following the discovery of parts of a vessel in waters south of Hastings. This operation includes deploying a Coastguard helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft, alongside the Hastings lifeboat, to the reported area.

The debris was first spotted early this morning, prompting immediate action from local maritime authorities. The nature and origin of the debris remain unclear at this stage, and there have been no confirmed reports of a missing vessel in the area, which adds to the urgency and mystery of the situation.

A spokesperson from the UK Coastguard stated, “We are currently coordinating a full-scale search and rescue operation in response to the discovery of what appears to be parts of a vessel. Our priority is to ensure that no one is in danger and to ascertain the circumstances that led to this incident.”

The operation is being conducted with assistance from local lifeboat volunteers and aerial support to cover a wider area more effectively. The Coastguard has also issued a call for any vessels in the vicinity to remain vigilant and report any further sightings or debris that may be related to this incident.

As of now, there have been no reported injuries or casualties. The Coastguard is meticulously documenting the recovered debris to aid in identifying the vessel and determining what may have occurred. This situation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available. The community is urged to stay clear of the area to allow emergency services to conduct their operations safely and efficiently.
