Police Appeal to Identify Man After Sexual Assault in Hammersmith

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police are appealing for help from the public to identify a man captured on CCTV footage in connection with a sexual assault that took place in Hammersmith Grove earlier this year.

A woman in her 30s was attacked at around 03:40am on Sunday, 18 May, as she walked near Hammersmith Underground Station. She is being supported by specially trained officers.


Victim Followed and Attacked

According to investigators, the woman was followed along Hammersmith Grove before the suspect sexually assaulted her and fled the scene on foot, running towards Hammersmith Broadway.

Police launched an immediate investigation, using CCTV footage to trace the man’s movements both before and after the assault. He was last seen heading north on Park Road, then into a residential area near Browning Avenue.

Detective Superintendent Lucy O’Connor, who is leading the investigation, issued a direct appeal:

“Women and girls should be safe to walk the streets of London without being attacked. That is why we need to identify a man in connection with this incident and are now asking the public to help.

If you were in the area on the morning of Sunday, 18 May or if you recognise the man in the footage, please contact us as soon as possible.”
