A20 Fougeres Way Closed in Both Directions Following Serious Accident – Heavy Traffic Reported

Motorists in Kent are facing severe disruption this afternoon after a serious accident forced the closure of the A20 Fougeres Way in both directions.

The incident has led to the closure of the stretch between M20 Junction 8 (Leeds Castle / Maidstone Services, Harrietsham) and M20 Junction 9 (Ashford).

Emergency services are currently on the scene, and traffic has begun to build heavily in both directions as drivers are diverted away from the area. Authorities have not yet confirmed the number of vehicles involved or whether there have been any injuries.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while emergency crews continue their work.

A traffic spokesperson said:

“There is heavy congestion on surrounding roads due to the full closure of the A20. Please allow extra time for your journey and consider avoiding the route entirely if possible.”

There is currently no estimated time for reopening, and recovery operations are expected to continue for some time.

We have reached out to Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service for more details.

This is a developing story. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
