An Accrington man has pleaded guilty to a stabbing outside a mosque earlier this year. Ishaq Hussain, 33, appeared at Preston Crown Court’s Session House on Monday, admitting to wounding with intent and carrying a knife in public.

Victim Seriously Injured Outside Raza Jamia Masjid

The attack happened in July outside the Raza Jamia Masjid on Lower Antley Street. The victim, Umer Farooq, a man in his 40s, was found with serious injuries and rushed to hospital.

Family Feud Sparks Violence

Prosecutor Kate Moore told Blackburn Magistrates’ Court the stabbing was part of wider disorder linked to a family feud in the area.

Co-Defendant Faces Trial After Denying Charges

Aiwaz Hussain, 22, from Station Road, Bamber Bridge, was also charged following the attack. He faces two counts of wounding with intent, attempted murder, and possession of a bladed article. On October 6, he admitted one wounding charge but denies the rest. He is remanded in custody and due to stand trial on January 19.

Ishaq Hussain, currently of no fixed address, remains in custody and will be sentenced alongside his co-defendants once proceedings conclude.
