Three sexual predators have received lengthy prison sentences after repeatedly raping a 12-year-old girl who was lured into a car in Dover. Kevin Horvath, Ivan Turtak, and Ernest Gunar were sentenced at england/canterbury/”>Canterbury Crown Court on Friday, 12 September 2025, following their convictions for multiple child sex offences, including rape.
Details of the Crime
The incident occurred on Sunday, 11 August 2024, when the offenders approached the victim in a supermarket car park/”>park. Over several days, they subjected her to horrific abuse, taking her to various locations, including Turtak’s flat in Dover and a caravan owned by Gunar in Folkestone.
During the trial, it was revealed that the girl was given drugs and alcohol while being sexually abused. She was threatened with death if she tried to escape or report the abuse. However, on Tuesday, 13 August, she managed to leave the caravan while the men slept and confided in CCTV footage showing her entering a silver Skoda Fabia in the supermarket car park. The vehicle’s registration was traced to Horvath, who was arrested along with Turtak in the early hours of Thursday, 15 August. Gunar was identified as the third offender and was arrested three days later at Glasgow Airport while attempting to flee.
Forensic evidence linked all three men to the crimes, and an indecent image of the victim was found on Turtak’s mobile phone, taken inside his flat.

Sentences and Reactions
Horvath, 26, of King Street, Dover, and Turtak, 38, of George Street, were each sentenced to 17 years in prison, while Gunar, 27, of Sidney Street, Folkestone, received a 19-year sentence. All three men, who are Slovakian nationals, will also serve an additional three years on licence under the terms of extended sentences.
Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Smith of Kent Police praised the victim for her bravery and commended the officers involved in the investigation. He stated, “Nobody should have to suffer sexual abuse like the victim in this case did… They will now be behind bars where they belong for a significant period of time.”
