HMRC has dropped its latest list naming and shaming deliberate tax defaulters across the UK — with eleven individuals and firms caught red-handed in east London alone.
These culprits made deliberate errors or outright failed to meet their tax obligations. When losses exceed £25,000, HMRC slaps on stiff civil penalties to make an example of them.
Biggest Busts: Six-Figure Defaults and Hefty Penalties
- Brian Kenneth Wren: The company director, linked to three Havering addresses, racked up a shocking £568,515.30 in unpaid tax between 2012 and 2018. He was hit with a colossal £270,044.74 penalty.
- Premier Signature London Ltd: The catering and event company with ties to Hornchurch and the Isle of Dogs deliberately underpaid tax totalling £342,990.84 over five years. HMRC fined them £204,079.52.
- DXB Wholesale Ltd: This scrap metal broker formerly based in Admirals Way, Isle of Dogs and Nottingham, defaulted on £1.35 million in tax in less than a year. The penalty? A massive £943,102.30.
- R Foods Ltd: The East Ham takeaway was caught fudging tax on £112,798 between 2020 and 2024, resulting in a £58,409.55 fine.
- Nosorog Construction Ltd: The firm defaulted on £108,555.67 of tax from 2022 to 2024 across addresses in East London, NW London, and Wigan. Penalty: £66,490.34.
- Highend London Ltd: Formerly Mac Singh Service Ltd with links to Manor Park and Southall, it dodged £35,370.30 in tax and got slapped with a £24,759.21 penalty.
Other Notable East London Defaulters
- Georgi Kirilov Traykov: Hit with a £73,457.30 penalty for rental income tax defaults from 2015 to 2023 at an Ilford address.
- Andrei Nechifiriuc: Construction worker fined £39,594.54 for £58,014 in tax errors between 2021 and 2024. Addresses linked in Ilford and Hounslow.
- Kiyomi Contracting UK Limited: Penalised £45,392.61 after deliberately fudging £68,259.60 in tax across multiple periods in 2022 and 2023. Registered in Walthamstow.
- K’s Jerk Hut Limited (Kingston Jerk Hut): The Clapton takeaway received a £24,144.62 penalty for tax issues worth £36,444.72, spanning 2018 to 2023.
- Eunice Ebunoluwa Orihu: Property income tax defaulter from Collier Row fined £30,145.91 for errors on £48,501.20 between 2017 and 2023.
HMRC’s crackdown shows no mercy for deliberate tax cheats. With millions in penalties handed out, this warning is clear: dodge your tax at your peril, especially in east London.
