James Green, 37, from Lancing, has been locked up for 18 years following a terrifying campaign of sexual abuse, stalking, and harassment against two victims. The Lewes Crown Court handed down a 12-year prison sentence plus six years on extended licence after a string of damning convictions.
Horrific Crimes Revealed
Green’s crimes shocked the community. He preyed on a woman in her 30s, relentlessly harassing her. He vandalised her property, stole her jewellery, and smeared abusive notes on her fence. In a chilling move, he even moved into a nearby home to keep up his intimidation.
At the same time, Green groomed and manipulated a teenage relative of the woman. In August 2023, he raped the vulnerable teenager at his house. Despite bail conditions barring him from contacting her, Green relentlessly bombarded her with over 1,600 calls and messages over four months. He sent explicit videos and threatened her to drop the charges.
Justice Served – But Victims Left Scarred
The judge imposed a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order and restraining orders to keep the victims safe. Detective Inspector Harry Doyle of Sussex Police called Green “a dangerous man who inflicted severe emotional and psychological harm.”
“This case shows the strength and bravery of those who speak out,” DI Doyle said. “Their evidence ensured Green was brought to justice, and he will no longer be able to harm anyone else.”
Police Urge Victims to Speak Up
Sussex Police stressed the importance of reporting stalking, harassment, or sexual abuse. They assured victims that all complaints will be handled seriously and sensitively.
James Green will serve his prison term before being closely monitored for six more years on licence, protecting the public from further danger.
