Met Police Website and Twitter account has been compromised

Part of the Met Police’s website has been hacked, the force has confirmed There twitter account has also been hacked and compromised after a number of tweets attacked a record number of retweets from it’s 1.22 million followers

  A spokesman for  Met said it was made aware of “a threat to the newsroom section” of its website – hosted by an external supplier. A force spokesman said: “This system has no affiliation with the Force’s crime management or command and control systems and has not compromised the Force’s operational capabilities. All the relevant authorities have been notified of this incident.”   An investigation is being carried out by the  Met Police , National Crime Agency and the National Cyber Security Centre. Roy Smith the duty Superintendent for the force tweeted: We are aware that the @metpoliceuk has been subject to unauthorised access and our media team are working hard to delete the messages and ensure the security of the account. Please ignore any Tweets until we verify that it is back under official control. RT
