Fire Rips Through Abandoned Sandown Hotel – Thick Smoke Chokes the Sky

Flames Engulf Derelict Cygnet Hotel

Flames tore through the long-abandoned Cygnet Hotel in Sandown this afternoon, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky. Firefighters scrambled to the scene as the top floor was engulfed in fire, sparking panic among locals and passersby.

Multiple Fire Crews Battle Blazing Inferno

Just before 5:30pm on Saturday, frantic 999 calls flooded in after eyewitnesses spotted flames shooting from the rundown hotel at the busy junction of Broadway and Carter Street. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue deployed several fire engines to wrestle the blaze under control.

The chaotic scene saw smoke towering over the neglected building, alarming nearby residents. Fire crews continue their battle to douse the flames and prevent further damage.
