Grace O’Malley-Kumar, victim of the June 2023 Nottingham attacks, is being honoured with the prestigious George Medal for her bravery. The 19-year-old medical student tried to protect her friend during the horrific incident.

Posthumous Honour from King Charles

Grace will receive the George Medal posthumously, following a recommendation by King Charles. The George Medal ranks among the UK’s highest civilian awards, recognising exceptional courage in deadly circumstances.

Remembering Grace’s Courage

Tragically, Grace was killed alongside her friend Barnaby Webber and caretaker Ian Coates in the shocking attack that shook Nottingham and the nation.

Her mother, Sinead O’Malley, called the award “a remarkable acknowledgement of her bravery.”

Her father added it showed “the person we always knew Grace to be – someone who never turned away from helping others.”

The family remains immensely proud of Grace’s selflessness and hopes this honour will stand as a lasting tribute to her courage and kindness.
