Old Fivers soon to become worthless

There were close to 165 million paper £5 notes still in circulation at the start of the year, but on 5th May they all cease being legal tender. You may be able to take them into certain banks for a certain period after this date but retailers will no longer accept them. If you still have them after the cut-off date a trip to the Bank of England will be your only option.
