STILL ON THE RUN Manhunt Under Way for Escaped Asylum Seeker Freed by Prison Blunder

Met Police Launch Urgent Appeal as Escaped Convict Roams London

A furious senior Met Police officer has called on Ethiopian national Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu to turn himself in after he was accidentally released from HMP Chelmsford last Friday.

Commander James Conway revealed the 38-year-old asylum seeker has been spotted hopping on and off trains all over London since his slip-uped release. Kebatu was seen wearing a grey prison tracksuit and carrying a clear plastic bag with his belongings.

“Mr Kebatu caught a 12.42pm train to Stratford after his release and has been travelling widely on London trains since then,” Conway said. “He appears to have access to funds and has asked station staff and members of the public for help in Chelmsford and London.”

Police Demand Public Help to Snare Fugitive

The Met has urged anyone who has helped Kebatu or spots him now to call 999 immediately. Time is ticking to catch the man who slipped through the cracks.

“We want to find you safely and peacefully,” Conway said directly to Kebatu. “You’ve said you want to return to Ethiopia. The best thing is for you to contact us by calling 999 or going to a police station.”

Chilling Crimes of Convicted Sex Offender on the Run

Kebatu sparked outrage after arriving in the UK on a small boat days before committing sexual assaults in July. He was convicted of attacking two teenage girls and a woman, trying to kiss them, touching their legs, and making creepy remarks about having babies with them.

The migrant was found guilty of five offences during a quick three-day trial at Chelmsford and Colchester magistrates’ courts in September. At sentencing, he made clear his “firm wish” to be deported back to Ethiopia.
