Neighbour’s Nightmare Katy Ross Jailed After 33 Anti-Social Breaches
Katy Ross of Poplar Avenue, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, has finally been locked up after ignoring an Anti-Social Behaviour Injunction Order 33 times. Her relentless disruption drove neighbours to despair.
Council and Police Crack Down After Years of Complaints
The injunction, issued under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, was secured by Ashfield District Council in November 2021. Despite numerous attempts to engage positively with Ross, she repeatedly flouted the order.
Complaints kept flooding in, reporting drug use, violent outbursts, verbal abuse, and noise disturbances. Police arrested Ross, leading to her court appearance at Mansfield County Court on Tuesday 4 October.
33 Breaches Land Ross a 37-Week Prison Sentence
Convicted of 33 separate breaches, Ross was handed a 37-week prison sentence. The original injunction remains active until 16 November 2023 and will be closely monitored by the council and police.
What Katy Ross Is Banned From
- Allowing visitors between 6pm and 9am, except emergency, social, and health workers.
- Committing or threatening violence within Ashfield.
- Abusing Ashfield District Council staff.
- Playing loud music or causing nuisance by banging.
- Contacting witnesses involved in the case.
- Allowing waste build-up or overgrown gardens that attract rats and mice.
Police and Council Vow to Keep Up the Pressure
Inspector Jon Hewitt, Nottinghamshire Police: “We won’t tolerate persistent antisocial behaviour that ruins our community. These court orders are serious and must be obeyed, or prison awaits. We’re working closely with the council and residents to crack down on these problems. If you live near a troubled address, please report it.”
Antonio Taylor, Ashfield District Council’s Community Safety Manager: “Thanks to witnesses and officers who helped secure this conviction. This sentence will bring much-needed relief for local residents. Our Community Safety team is teaming up with Nottinghamshire Police through the Safer Streets project, dedicating extra officers to tackle antisocial behaviour and crime in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.”
