Three crafty crooks tricked an elderly man into handing over £250 with a ruthless parking fine scam near the post office at Harbinger.
The Devious Plot
- The gang told the man, who’s in his 90s, he owed a parking fine outside the shop.
- They lured him to a nearby phone box claiming he needed to pay.
- One scammer distracted him while another covered the card slot with paper and stole his card right under his nose.
- The man in a cap and mask then went into the post office and withdrew £250 using the stolen card.
- A younger man in a grey tracksuit pretended to be innocent and said he’d help by calling the bank.

Aftermath and Warning
The scammers didn’t stop there. They dashed off to Curry’s in Beckton and splurged even more money on the victim’s card before the victim reached home and alerted his family.
Photos of the trio were screenshot from CCTV footage (though not very clear) and shared to warn locals.

“Please make sure everyone is very careful and spot these people hanging around. Call the police,” urged local resident Charlee Tough-Langton.
