In a heartbreaking turn of events, two young men, including a participant from Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams series, have lost their lives following a car accident in Preston, Lancashire. The victims were Umar Mahmood, 18, and Adam Bodi, 16, both passionate cricketers and beloved members of their community.

The accident occurred on Tuesday evening on Chain Caul Way, involving an Audi A3. Umar succumbed to his injuries on Friday morning, while Adam tragically passed away on Thursday. A third passenger, aged 17, remains hospitalised and is currently in stable condition.

Umar Mahmood had gained national recognition for his appearance in the first series of the BBC programme hosted by cricket legend Freddie Flintoff. His former school, Penwortham Priory Academy, remembered him as a “bright, studious, and well-loved member” of their community, with a passion for both geography and cricket.

Adam Bodi, the second victim, was also fondly remembered by Penwortham Priory Academy as “an amazing pupil” with “fantastic memories,” known for his popularity, confidence, and skills as a footballer.

The BBC expressed their condolences, saying: “We are very saddened to hear the news of Umar’s passing, and the thoughts of everyone in the Field of Dreams team are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”

Lancashire Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the collision and have appealed for witnesses to come forward with any additional information or dashcam footage. Sergeant Paul McCurrie emphasized the tragic nature of the incident and extended his sympathies to the families and loved ones of the deceased.
