Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £7,500 for information leading to the whereabouts of Tarnrie Simpson, 22, who is wanted in connection with a violent knife attack and has failed to attend court. The charity is urging the public to contact them anonymously if they have any knowledge of his location.
Simpson was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a knife in a public place, and malicious wounding. The charges stem from a brutal attack that took place on 26 December 2021 in Truman Close, St Ann’s, Nottingham. The victim was left with permanent facial scars after being slashed with a large knife. Simpson failed to attend Nottingham Crown Court on 9 August 2024.
In addition to these charges, Simpson is also wanted on a recall to prison for failing to attend four probation appointments in relation to previous offences. Nottinghamshire Police have been conducting extensive searches to locate him.
Crimestoppers, an independent charity, has stepped in to support the investigation, offering the £7,500 reward for information that exclusively leads to Simpson’s arrest. The reward will remain available for three months.
Detective Chief Inspector Sam Austin from Nottinghamshire Police stated, “We believe that Simpson is lying low and is very aware we are searching for him. We urge anyone who knows his location or who may be harbouring him to come forward immediately. Assisting an offender is a serious criminal offence.”
DCI Austin added, “Simpson is wanted in connection with a violent knife attack that left the victim traumatised. We will not stop until justice is served. If you have information, please contact us or Crimestoppers anonymously.
Lydia Patsalides, Crimestoppers East Midlands Regional Manager, reiterated the importance of anonymity, stating, “Our charity guarantees that your identity will remain anonymous. By sharing any information on Simpson’s whereabouts, you are helping to keep your community safe, and you could be eligible for a reward.
Anyone with information is advised not to approach Simpson directly but to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via Fearless.org.
Only information passed directly to Crimestoppers or Fearless.org will qualify for the reward.
