BAILED Woman Found Dead in Southampton – Murder Suspect Released on Bail

A 38-year-old woman was found dead at a Southampton home, police have confirmed. The victim has been named as Margarida Ressurreicao. A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of her murder but has since been released on conditional bail as the investigation presses on.

Tragic Loss for Family: “Very Good and Kind”

Emergency crews were called to Redwood Way just after 1:30pm on Sunday, 5 October. Margarida’s family, supported by specialist officers, described her as a “very good and kind person” who will be “deeply missed.”

“We would like to thank everyone who has sent their condolences and everyone who knew Margarida,” the family said in a statement.

The relatives urged anyone with information about Margarida to come forward, saying:

“We are continuing to work very closely with the police and are being supported by family liaison officers. If you have any information about Margarida that you think might be useful, we would urge you to speak with the police urgently.”

They also requested privacy as they grieve this shocking loss.

Neighbours Left Reeling After Sudden Death

Residents of the normally quiet street spoke of their shock. Rita Butcher, 76, told the Daily Echo:

“Around here it is usually pretty quiet. We never get any sort of problems like this at all. So it is quite a shock really.”

Another neighbour described the tragedy as “very sad” and “horrible.”

Ongoing Police Investigation and Bail Details

The 39-year-old man arrested in connection with Margarida’s death was released on conditional bail until 5 January 2026. Police expect a lengthy, detailed investigation involving forensic analysis and witness interviews.

Specialist family liaison officers continue to offer support to Margarida’s relatives as the case develops.

Hampshire Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or use the online reporting system, quoting reference number 44250450734.

Community on Edge as Investigation Continues

The murder probe has unsettled the Southampton neighbourhood. Residents are coming to terms with both the proximity of violent crime and the loss of a local woman known to many.

Police are conducting door-to-door inquiries around Redwood Way to gather any clues that might help solve the case.
