A Suspect Will Appear In Court On Charges Of Causing Damage To A Police Car In Margate

 

Kent Police were called to a number of disturbances on the town’s Main Sands on the afternoon of Friday, June 17, 2022.

A patrol car’s roof and bonnet were damaged while officers were dispersing groups on the beach.

Taylor Westwood, 22, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with causing criminal damage as part of an investigation into the disturbance and damage.

He has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear in Margate Magistrates’ Court on Friday, July 29.

In connection with the disturbance, a 62-year-old man has also been charged.

Russell Williams, of Eaton Place in Margate, was charged with assault by beating and being drunk and disorderly. Mr Williams has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear in Margate Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 5.

Chief Inspector Matthew Smith, District Commander for Thanet, stated, ‘We do not tolerate anti-social behaviour and officers will always work to arrest suspects and bring them before the courts.

‘We recognise the negative impact it can have on an area, and we are committed to working with our partner agencies this summer to keep Thanet a safe place to be.’
