Stephanie Bowie, 29, was found guilty of murder, possession of a bladed article, and attempting to defeat the ends of justice on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at the High Court in Glasgow.
She was sentenced today in Stirling High Court (Thursday, 7 July, 2022).
Darren Russell, 21, died on the doorstep of his family home in Erskine on New Year’s Day, 2021, after being attacked by Bowie.
Senior Investigating Officer Chief Inspector Christopher Nisbet stated: “Stephanie Bowie is now dealing with the ramifications of her actions.
“This sentence, I hope, sends a strong message that violence and the carrying of weapons are completely unacceptable.
“Although it cannot change what has occurred, I hope that this sentence provides some closure for Darren’s family and friends.
“In this extremely difficult time, our thoughts are with them.
Police Scotland is dedicated to bringing perpetrators to justice and will continue to collaborate closely with our partners to do so.
