A 27-year-old man from Devon has been sentenced to three years in prison for engaging in sexual activity with a child. Ellis Mace, formerly of Bideford, appeared at Exeter Crown Court where he admitted to multiple offences involving a person under 18.

Court Hears Details of the Case

Mace pleaded guilty to charges of engaging in penetrative sexual acts with a child more than once. Judge David Evans noted the offences involved consensual intercourse but highlighted the “significant disparity” in ages between Mace and the victim.

Police arrested Mace in 2024, and he admitted his actions. Despite previously having a good character, the judge made it clear his record is now tarnished.

“Because of your commission of these offences, you will be subject to notification provisions for the foreseeable future,” Judge Evans told Mace.

Defending solicitor Nikki Coombe stated that Mace “very much regrets” his behaviour and takes full responsibility.
