Driver Extricated After A Collision On The A36

Police this evening have again closed the A36 for the second time in a week due to a serious collision. Traffic was diverted down Whindwhistle Road following a single vehicle collision. The driver was cut free by the fire service and taken to hospital. His injuries are currently unknown. Fire crews extricated the man by removing the roof of the blue volvo and was strapped to a spinal board as he was complaining of back and neck pain. Long delays are reported in and around the area and many angry drivers have taken to social media to air their upset and frustrations. It is believed the fire crews from Eastleigh attended the collision near West Wellow as they were the nearest crew available. A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service declined to comment. The man was taken to Southampton General Hospital by ambulance.
