A man has been charged with the murders of father and son Terry and Brendan McMillan, and with grievous bodily harm against a third man, following a violent stabbing incident in Bermondsey.

Hassan Cevik, 31, of Mount Pleasant Lane, Hackney, was arrested on Monday 28 July and taken to hospital for treatment. He was discharged on Saturday 9 August and subsequently charged the next day.

He faces two counts of murder, one count of Section 18 grievous bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon. Cevik is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday 11 August.

Police were called to Long Lane, SE1, at around 1pm on 28 July after reports of multiple people being assaulted at a business unit. Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended, treating four victims for stab wounds.

Despite emergency efforts, 27-year-old Brendan McMillan was pronounced dead at the scene. His father, 58-year-old Terry McMillan from Chislehurst, Bromley, died shortly afterwards in hospital. A third man, aged 47, sustained serious injuries but survived.

The Metropolitan Police investigation remains ongoing.
