Dominic Bevilacqua, 25, turned a night out into a nightmare when he violently attacked his on-off partner at their Anglers Avenue home in Whittlesey on November 4. The victim said he “just switched” suddenly, grabbing her by the hair and dragging her off the bed.
Relentless Punches and Strangulation
Bevilacqua launched a savage assault, punching her face repeatedly and strangling her. He kept kicking and hitting until she broke free and made a desperate escape, driving herself home. The next day, she sought hospital treatment for her injuries.
Jail Time and Restraining Order Delivered
Police arrested Bevilacqua two days later, on November 6. Despite his attempts to blame the victim, justice prevailed. On January 23, Peterborough Magistrates’ Court sentenced him to 20 months behind bars after a guilty plea to actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation.
He also received an indefinite restraining order, banning him from contacting the victim.
“Bevilacqua launched a brutal and cowardly attack and then tried to blame the victim so it’s great he’s been brought to justice,” said DC Yeli Zaicevs, who led the investigation. “Domestic abuse is a force priority, and we’ll continue to do everything we can to put perpetrators in front of the courts.”
