Sources have revealed that the driver of the Land Rover involved in the tragic crash that killed two eight-year-old girls at Study Preparatory School in Wimbledon may have experienced a seizure while behind the wheel.
Selena Lau died at the scene of the crash on Thursday, July 6, while Nuria Sajjad was pronounced dead in the hospital three days later. A 46-year-old woman, who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
According to a source the driver was in a delirious state and had bitten through her tongue, suggesting that she may have had a seizure just before the accident. The source stated, “She’d stopped outside the school but the car took off as if the driver had suddenly floored the accelerator. At this point, the police believe she had some kind of seizure just before the accident.”
The Metropolitan Police have not provided an official comment on this claim, and their investigation into the incident is ongoing.
At the time of the crash, an end-of-term party was taking place at the school, resulting in a total of 16 people being injured. A woman in her 40s remains in critical condition.
