Darren Elson, aged 42, has appeared in court after stealing alcoholic beverages worth £2,000 from Majestic Wine located on South Eden Park Road in Beckenham. The incident took place on May 4 when Elson entered the store and absconded with two bottles of Bollinger champagne, three bottles of Jura whiskey, three bottles of Cotswolds whiskey, six bottles of Moët champagne, and four bottles of Laurent Perrier champagne.
Following his apprehension, Elson pleaded guilty to the theft charge during his hearing at Bexley Magistrates’ Court. On July 12, he was subsequently sentenced to a community order, which includes a drug rehabilitation requirement. Furthermore, Elson has been banned from entering Majestic Wine premises.
The combined value of the stolen alcoholic beverages amounted to £1,921. However, Elson was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of only £114 as part of his sentence.
