A devastating car crash in County Mayo has resulted in the untimely death of Ciaran Keating, the older brother of renowned singer Ronan Keating. The collision, involving two vehicles, occurred around 3.35pm on Saturday in Ballymiles, near Swinford, according to the police.

Tragically, Ciaran Keating, aged in his 50s, lost his life in the incident. He and his wife, Ann Marie Keating, were en route to watch their son Ruairí play for Cork City FC when the accident transpired. The driver of the second vehicle sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Mayo University Hospital for medical treatment.

Gardaí, have issued an appeal for information as they continue their investigation into the crash. The priority remains to gather all relevant details surrounding the incident, aiding in understanding the circumstances leading to the collision.

Ann Marie Keating and the passenger of the other vehicle were also injured but thankfully received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The football club, Cork City FC, expressed their sympathies on social media, extending their support to the grieving family during this difficult time.

Ronan Keating, widely recognised for his success as a member of the Irish boyband Boyzone in the 1990s, rose to prominence. He later embarked on a flourishing solo music career and has since diversified his talents, hosting various radio and television programs. Keating recently guest-presented episodes of the BBC’s The One Show before becoming a permanent presenter in May 2021. In addition, he was announced as a coach for the upcoming 13th series of The Voice of Germany last month.
