A seven-year-old child has been seriously injured in a devastating three-vehicle crash involving a tractor, a Ford Fiesta, and a police dog unit van near Preston earlier today.

The incident occurred on Stubbins Lane, Claughton-on-Brock, at around 11:00am, prompting a large emergency response and temporary road closures in the area.


Crash Involved Police Vehicle and Tractor

According to Lancashire Police, the crash took place after a tractor emerged from a field and struck a Ford Fiesta, causing the car to collide with a police dog van travelling nearby.

  • The child, who was a passenger in the Ford Fiesta, was rushed to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
  • An adult passenger in the same car was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
  • A police officer in the dog van was hospitalised but is not believed to be seriously hurt.
  • Police dogs inside the van were taken to Hutton Headquarters, where they were examined by a vet.
  • The tractor driver was uninjured.

Road Closures and Investigation

The road was closed between Garstang Road and Lodge Road, near both sides of the M6, for approximately two hours while emergency services managed the scene and conducted initial investigations.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage to come forward:
