A major fire broke out in a block of flats on Church Road, Upper Norwood, early this morning, prompting a large-scale response from the London Fire Brigade.

Incident Details:

  • Response: Eight fire engines and approximately 60 firefighters attended the scene.
  • Extent of Damage: Part of the first floor of the building was ablaze.
  • Rescue Operations: Seven individuals were rescued by firefighters using ladders. They were treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service.

One of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders was deployed to tackle the fire from above, ensuring a rapid and safe response.

Emergency Services Mobilised:

Control Officers received the first emergency call at 3:33 AM, mobilising crews from fire stations in West Norwood, Woodside, Norbury, and other surrounding areas.
