Man Charged After Stabbing in Canary Wharf Car Park

Overview

A man has been charged following a stabbing incident in a car park at Cabot Square, Canary Wharf, on Saturday evening.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 9:29pm on Saturday, 2 August, to reports of a man suffering from stab wounds in the underground car park area.

Officers attended and found a man in his 40s with serious injuries. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. His injuries have since been assessed as non-life changing.

Man Charged with GBH and Robbery

Following enquiries, Rasheed Adekunle, 57, of Ross Avenue, Dagenham, was arrested and has now been charged with the following offences:

  • Grievous bodily harm with intent

  • Possession of a bladed article

  • Robbery

  • Driving a motor vehicle without insurance

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 6 August.

Investigation Continues

A crime scene was in place at Cabot Square on Saturday night as forensic teams carried out detailed searches of the area. Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
“We are grateful to members of the public who provided immediate assistance and called emergency services. Our investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this violent attack.”
