A 32-year-old man has been arrested following a shocking stabbing incident on Bridge Road in Alum Rock, Birmingham.

Afghan Migrant Killed in Brutal Attack

The victim, an Afghan migrant who was reportedly shoeless at the time, was hacked to death outside a local school. Nearby, a nursery was placed on lockdown during the desperate attack.

Police officers performed CPR at the scene, but sadly, the man died before he could be saved.

 

Police Swiftly Respond, Victim Dies at Scene

Officers were called to Bridge Road just after 12:06pm on Tuesday 3 March, following reports of a seriously injured man. Firearms officers also attended as part of the emergency response.

The arrested man remains in custody as investigations continue.

Woman Injured, Community Reassured

A woman also suffered injuries in the incident, but they are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Detective Superintendent James Munro of West Midlands Police said: “The incident appears to be contained with a man now in custody. We’re reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses. Extra patrols are in place to reassure the community.”
