Brutal Attack Shocks South Wales Community
A bubbly teenage girl has been tragically stabbed to death in her own bedroom while her mother was at home. The victim has been named as Lainie Williams, 17, from Cefn Fforest near Blackwood, South Wales.
Police were called to the family home just after 7am on Thursday, where they found Lainie lying in a pool of blood. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lainies mother, 38-year-old Rhian Stephens, was also injured in the attack and rushed to the hospital.
Man Arrested as Police Launch Murder Probe
An 18-year-old man from nearby Newbridge has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Detectives say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident following this arrest.
Lainies grandfather told MailOnline the suspect was seen shirtless outside the house at 5.30 am and waited for Rhians boyfriend to leave for work before entering through an unlocked door.
Heartbreaking Tributes Pour In
Lainies great-grandmother, 78-year-old Florence Jones, said: “I’m in total shock. She was a lovely, bubbly girl. She lived with me for the last few years. I can’t believe whats happened. Things like this dont happen in our family.”
Neighbours recalled being woken by sirens, helicopters, and banging doors as police including firearms officers arrived in force.

Community in Mourning
Mayor George Etheridge described the killing as horrific and sent his sympathies. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected by this tragedy, he said.
He also thanked police for their swift response and reassured locals amid the heavy police presence.
