An elderly man was mugged while waiting for a lift at a busy London Tube station. The 77-year-old victim had his wallet ripped from him – the wallet was attached to him by a chain.
Incident at Finsbury Park Station
The robbery happened at around 7.30pm on Tuesday, 2 September, at Finsbury Park Underground station. The offender reportedly restrained the man before snatching the wallet containing around £200 and making off.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The British Transport Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the crime. Officers believe this individual may hold vital information to help their enquiries.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Detectives investigating the robbery of an elderly man have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to. At around 7.30pm on Tuesday 2 September, a 77-year-old man was waiting for a lift at Finsbury Park Underground station when a man approached and restrained him.”
“He then tore his wallet containing around £200 from him, which had been attached with a chain, and walked away. Officers believe the man in the images could have information that may assist their enquiries.”
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward immediately.
