A devastating fire tore through a terraced house on Weirdale Avenue, Whetstone, in the early hours of October 4th, leaving one man dead and others hospitalised.
Firefighters Battle Intense Blaze
The London Fire Brigade was called out at 1:04 AM to tackle a fierce fire that heavily damaged the ground and first floors of the end-of-terrace home. Crews from Southgate, Barnet, Finchley, and Hornsey stations rushed to the scene.
Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters made a dramatic rescue, bringing a man down an internal staircase using a fire escape hood. Two men were taken to hospital by paramedics. Sadly, one later died from his injuries.
Cause of Fire Under Investigation
Firefighters had left the scene by 2:34 AM, but an investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing. Both the London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service are probing the incident.
