Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters have been scrambled to tackle a raging fire on Penge’s High Street. A two-storey terraced shop is ablaze, with the ground floor severely damaged by flames.

 

Neighbouring Homes Evacuated Amid Thick Smoke

Nearby properties have been evacuated as a precaution. Locals are urged to keep windows and doors shut to avoid inhaling heavy smoke drifting through the area.

Traffic Chaos as High Street Shut

Emergency crews have closed the High Street, causing major traffic disruption. Commuters and shoppers are advised to steer clear of the scene and find alternative routes.

 

Early Hours Callout and Fire Investigation

The Brigade’s Control Office received the fire alarm at 4:30 AM. Crews from Beckenham, Forest Hill, Woodside, West Norwood, and nearby stations rushed to the blazing shop.

 

 

The cause of the fire is still unknown, with investigations ongoing.
