Scottish Footballer Jailed for Rape After Woman Helps Charge His Phone – UKNIP

Niall Geany, a footballer from Kirkliston near Edinburgh, was sentenced to three years and nine months after being found guilty of raping a woman who kindly let him into her home to charge his phone. The court case took place at the High Court in Glasgow.

Good Samaritan’s Kindness Turned Into Horror

The victim had shared a taxi with Geany following a night out. When he got stranded near her house, she offered shelter and a phone charger. Instead of gratitude, Geany made unwanted sexual advances despite knowing she was in a relationship. The woman repeatedly said “no” as he ignored her refusals and assaulted her.

Convicted and Sentenced: Footballer Faces Tough Punishment

Geany’s attack left the woman injured and visibly distressed, witnesses confirmed. After a trial earlier this year, he was convicted of rape causing injury. The judge ordered Geany to join the sex offenders register and issued a lifetime non-harassment order to protect the victim.

He will start his sentence in a young offenders’ institution before being moved to a prison.
