Wakefield MP Imran Ahmad Khan Quits Politics After Guilty Verdict
Imran Ahmad Khan, Tory MP for Wakefield, has announced he is “withdrawing from political life” following a serious assault conviction. Khan plans to appeal the verdict after being found guilty of assaulting a 15-year-old boy at a Staffordshire house party in 2014.
Shocking Verdict in Historic Assault Case
The young victim, who cannot be named, was reportedly “distraught” and ran home to tell his parents. Police were called, and the boy told officers Khan had asked him to “show me some porn” and called him a “good-looking boy.” Initially, the boy did not want to press charges but returned when he learnt Khan was running for Parliament.
Conservative Party Expels Imran Khan
Following the guilty verdict on April 11, Khan was expelled from the Conservative Party. Despite this, he has continued to sit as an MP. Labour immediately demanded his resignation, calling for him to step down “without delay.”
Khan Speaks Out, Vows to Appeal
In a statement, Khan said he is still “processing the shock” of the guilty verdict. He insists he will appeal and defended his position amid mounting pressure to quit politics for good.
